Gastronomie won over Gourmandie. Absolutely delightful meal. The flavours were exquisite, as were the textures. A real culinary experience on a budget and the service was super. Thank you for a lovely evening.

CadwalladaTotally unexpected in unprepossing surroundings. One of the best restaurants encountered on a walk from Lands End to John O'Groats. Delicious food, delightfully presented. Great value for money. 4/5

TrogGreat place that deserves to be very much more popular. Exellent food, stylish decor and very friendly hosts. Hopefully more folk will discover this choicest of eateries very soon. Highly recommended 5/5

A stylish addition to the local restaurant scene, Fifty Five has been attractively fitted out in contemporary rustic fashion, with modern art on bare stone walls. The kitchen serves up an appealing menu of dishes based around Scottish produce - witness haggis parcels with butternut squash, baked fillet of halibut and prime steaks with hand-cut chips and a choice of sauces - all followed by comforting desserts such as rhubarb and ginger crumble.

citygal234I was amazed to find this fabulous restaurant in such a small town. The food was out of this world. We were a group of five and simply had to try a little of each others dishes as we couldn't believe such wonderful flavours could be consistent in a variety of dishes but it was. The steak was by far the best any of us have had in our lives, it melted, goodness only knows how the chef cooked it, it was amazing. And as for the bread and butter pudding, I've never experienced such a delcious version. We all wished we lived nearer so we could eat there every week. 5/5
